Hyperbaric services are provided in conjunction with Hyperbaric Health Pty Ltd.
ProMedical operates a Comex twin lock multiplace chamber rated for treatments to 50 msw. Formerly located at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, the unit was recommissioned at the ProMedical Ambulance Station in Port Vila during August 2002. It is Vanuatu's only hyperbaric chamber.
The unit is situated about 15 minutes from Port Vila Airport and less than 5 minutes from Vila Central Hospital. Direct access to the facility by helicopter is possible during daylight hours.
Hyperbaric treatments are performed by Vanuatu-registered health practitioners with certification as Hyperbaric Attendants. Chamber operators include dive professionals certified as Chamber Operators. Medical supervision is provided by the Diving Medical Officer on a voluntary basis.
The hyperbaric unit is available to treat diving illnesses on a 24-hour basis. ProMedical
