ProMedical History
Vanuatu Emergency Services Association – ProMedical (VESA) is a non-government organisation (NGO) incorporated locally as a charitable association. VESA operates the paramedical service “ProMedical” which provides 24-hour international standard paramedical ambulance services on the islands of Efaté and Espirito Santo.
ProMedical also has a dedicated volunteer rescue team (ProRescue) modelled off Australian SES who provide road accident rescue as well as assistance at complex & multi-casualty cases.
ProMedical currently receives no direct funding from the Vanuatu government. Its operational cost is supported through the Australian Aid since year 2020, for COVID-19 pandemic assisted fund. ProMedical, relies on funding via sponsorship from local businesses and through subscriptions from Ni-Vanuatu, expatriate residents and businesses within the local community. We now have around three Ni-Vanuatu subscribers for every foreign resident member. This means that we are one of the few charities that can genuinely claim to serve the whole community.
The Port Vila ProMedical Station first opened its doors as a registered charity on January 9th 2004. Shortly after, the first Board was compiled. The role of the Board is to oversee the financial and business operations and provide support to the staff as needed.
