Promedical board members and staff here in Port Vila and Promedical Santo team are very happy to have Russell Hamstead as the new Australian Volunteer joining our Promedical Santo team. Russell is an experienced paramedic from Victoria and will be joining the team for the next 18 months. Please join us in Welcoming Russell if you see him in Luganville. We also like to simply say Thank you to Chris and Colin from the wild medic Project who were also at Santo and done an amazing 4 weeks relief work with our trainee team.

Matthew Steer

On the other hand, Promedical Paramedics are also happy and fortunate to welcome another reliefing MICA Paramedic from Mount Isa named Matthew, who’ll be here working with our Promedical team for a 4 weeks stint. Matthew is MICA Paramedic and works for the Queensland Ambulance Service in Outback Queensland, some 2000 km North West of Brisbane. He is also the Officer in Charge of the Mount Isa Station. He is looking forward to seeing the real Vanuatu and enjoying everyones hospitalitly. Please do join us in also giving Matthew a warm welcome when you meet him, either at our branch or down the streets.


CASES

Promedical Paramedics had been so busy with over 20 Emergency cases around Port Vila in 2 weeks and one of the jobs was to a 15yo who was kicked twice in the chest by a horse, patient was complaining of chest pain when Paramedics arrived, patient was then treated and stabilized by Paramedics and transported to ESMC for further treament. After the Drs assessment and x-ray, the Dr adviced for patient to be Medivac with a Paramedic Escort to Noumea for further treatment. Patient was Medivac out of the country the same night.
